Cycle Wellington built the makeshift lane along Adelaide Road yesterday, out of plastic poles and planter boxes.
It didn't last long ... the council had contractors remove it almost immediately, due to safety concerns.
Cycle Wellington spokesperson Patrick Morgan says it's incredibly frustrating that the council can talk for years about cycleways and deliver nothing, yet when the community does it they rip it out on the same day.
