Out of more than 13 thousand students surveyed for the Census At School study, 70 percent say they enjoyed learning from home during lockdown just as much if not more, than going to school.
The numbers were slightly lower for those trying towards NCEA qualifications, with only about half of year 13 students preferring home.
Secondary Schools Principals' Association President Deidre Shea says she's not surprised.
She says not everybody has access to online learning, so you'd expect students at higher levels to be less happy about studying from home.
