Kiwis Saffi Vette and Paige Hareb have escaped the Covid scare that's prevented a number of rivals competing in the heats at the World Surfing Games in El Salvador

11 of 18 athletes have since tested negative after contracting the virus and can leave quarantine - the other seven are self-isolating.
Vette says she and Hareb, who have both qualified for the second round, have benefited from some of their rivals' absences.
Vette and Hareb need a top seven finish in El Salvador to qualify for the Olympics.
