Nurses will strike for eight hours from 11am, after turning down the latest pay offer from the DHBs -- saying it doesn't address pay equity and staffing issues.
It will mean services in hospitals will be significantly reduced.
Director of Nursing at Hawke's Bay DHB Chris McKenna says the strike means non-urgent patient appointments and elective surgeries have been rescheduled.
She says they will continue to provide essential and urgent services -- including the emergency department.
Counties Manakau DHB also says non-urgent surgeries, procedures and outpatient clinics will be postponed -- and rescheduled as soon as possible.
