The number of patients admitted to hospital has increased by 210 percent since 2014.
Figures also show despite the rapid spike in demand, funding has barely increased.
Eating Disorders New Zealand Chair Nicki Wilson says the longer the wait - the worse things get.
She says hospitalisations are increasing because people can't access specialist treatment when they need it.
