A woman has described narrowly avoiding being hit by a car driving dangerously on Auckland's Quay Street in a rush hour drama this morning
7 July 2021
The woman says when she yelled at the driver of a car facing the wrong way on lower Albert St, she barrelled towards her on the footpath.
She says it was a bit surreal because she didn't think it would happen, but now she's seen footage of the driver ramming a police car, it makes it more real.
Police say the driver evaded officers - did a U turn, then turned and deliberately ran into a stationary police car, badly damaging it.
The woman was arrested without incident and no one was injured.
