It' would be difficult to prevent RSV infection.. in the same way we're trying to prevent Covid-19

Schools, hospitals and childcare centres remain on high alert due to a surge in the respiratory disease around the country.

Some hospitals are asking anyone with runny noses, coughs -- or children under the age of 16 -- not to visit.

College of GPs medical director, Bryan Betty, says we can try and stop Covid from coming into the country, but not RSV as it's present every year and is endemic in children.

He says the reason we have few cases last year is because the borders were closed.
