11 July 2021
It comes after an officer was shot and injured on Friday night in Hamilton.
A 23-year-old man will appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow.
The incident's prompted calls for officers to be armed at all times.
Hamilton Mayor Paula Southgate disagrees.
She says she'll be working with Police, and they will determine what to do moving forward.
The officer remains in a stable condition.
