The Black Sticks men have fought out a tough 2-all draw with Japan

The Black Sticks men have fought out a tough 2-all draw with Japan

Strikers Nick Wilson and Sam Lane scored for New Zealand.

It's a tough road ahead for the Black Sticks, taking on Australia tomorrow night, followed by Argentina on Friday night.

Kiwi boxer David Nyika's through to the second round after beating Moroccan Youness Baalla in his first bout of the Tokyo Games.

A disastrous start for 49er FX sailors Alex Maloney and Molly Meech to their Tokyo campaign.

They were handily placed in race one when they capsized and eventually finished 16th.

They have been disqualified from race two after crossing the start line early.

Finn sailor Josh Junior and defending 49er champions Peter Burling and Blair Tuke start their campaigns this afternoon.

The All Blacks Sevens have topped pool A after scraping past Australia in their final pool game.

New Zealand rallied from 12-nil down at the break to win 14-12, with tries to Dylan Collier and Andrew Knewstubb.

New Zealand will play Canada in the quarter finals, at 8.30 tonight, with Fiji taking on Australia, Great Britain v USA and Argentina against South Africa.

Erica Fairweather has finished eighth in her 200 metres freestyle semi final.

Fairweather who never expected to make a final or semi final at the Games, is thrilled to get to compete alongside the likes of Katie Ledecky and Ariane Titmus.

A disappointing day for New Zealand's women's triathletes.

Nicole Van der Kay has finished 29th, while Ainsley Thorpe crashed out, in the wet, early in the cycle leg.

The Football Ferns play their final pool game tonight at 8 against Sweden. They can't progress, having already lost to Australia and the US.
