People may not be getting value for money in Wellington's housing market

People may not be getting value for money in Wellington's housing market

New figures from One Roof show the nationwide median property value has increased 21-percent a year -- to hit a record high 791-thousand dollars.

Wellington Region's value has increased by 27-percent -- to 902-thousand dollars.

One Roof editor Owen Vaughan says the median price in Wellington City has increased 77 percent in five years -- an increase that may not be justified.

He says there's been no improvements to the quality of the homes, such as makeovers or extra bedrooms.
