Many of our AstraZeneca doses will be heading to Covid-stricken Fiji

Many of our AstraZeneca doses will be heading to Covid-stricken Fiji

Medsafe has provisionally approved the vaccine -- the third jab to get the go ahead alongside Pfizer and Janssen .

The Government previously pledged half a million AstraZeneca doses to Fiji but couldn't send supplies until it was Medsafe-approved.

Immunisation Advisory Centre's Medical Director professor Nikki Turner says it's important to approve vaccines before we offer them.

He says the New Zealand approval process shows we trust them and it wouldn't be ethical to give them elsewhere if we hadn't done this.

Fiji has recorded 13-hundred and one new cases of Covid-19 in its latest daily update.
