Between midnight on August 31 and 3.30pm on September 1, a total of three thousand and 59 vehicles were stopped at five checkpoints.
Only 114 vehicles were turned away for non-essential travel, less than four percent of all motorists.
This includes some attempting to exit Auckland to get takeaways, or to pick up items purchased online.
But Police Commissioner Andrew Coster says fewer vehicles are being processed than at checkpoints during February's lockdown.
