    A watershed moment for women's rugby in the South Island


    The joint Super Rugby venture between the Crusaders and Highlanders was officially launched today, named Matatu .

    The inaugural coach of Matatu Blair Baxter says after toiling in community rugby for 15 years, it's a dream to have a Super Rugby competition.



    Taranaki rugby coach Neil Barnes has labelled New Zealand Rugby's decision to get rid of promotion-relegation from this year's NPC as unfair.

    NZR revealed the rest of the competition schedule today, and confirmed the current premiership and championship sides will remain the same in 2022.

    NZR general manager of community rugby Steve Lancaster has responded, saying they feel for all championship teams.

    Lancaster adds they're faced with a range of imperfect options, and they have to choose one.
