A call for the Government to stop and listen to councils over its Three Waters plans
A call for the Government to stop and listen to councils over its Three Waters plans
27 October 2021
Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta confirmed today they're pushing ahead with plans to create four regional water entities for drinking, waste and storm water.
The changes will be implemented by July 2024, and a working group will help with design.
Green Party Three Waters spokesperson, Eugenie Sage, says introducing the legislation before Christmas only gives those working parties seven weeks.
She says that doesn't allow time for genuine engagement, and they want a solution in which councils can agree with the Government on the model.
