Changes to the Covid-19 restrictions in Auckland and Waikato are on their way
1 November 2021
Waikato will move to Step 2 of Alert Level Three from midnight tomorrow - meaning retail and public facilities can open and outdoor gatherings can increase to 25.
And Cabinet's made an in principle decision for Auckland to make the same move at midnight next Tuesday.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's explained why Auckland's restrictions aren't being eased immediately.
She says their approach is to take a steady and conscious change in the restrictions.
Ardern says we've only recently returned senior students to school - and this allows these changes to bed in carefully.
