That's roughly from Raglan north.
One person is in a critical condition after being resuscitated at the Auckland west coast beach of Karekare yesterday.
The other swimmer was returned to shore in a stable condition.
Northern Region Lifesaving Operations Manager James Lea says the rescue's down to the off-duty lifeguards quick response.
He says it takes less than 60 seconds to drown-- so when people go unconscious in the water it's critical to get them out quickly, clear the airway and resuscitate.
