Worry over an impending industrial action by Kiwirail staff

Rail and maritime union workers have voted to strike next month, in pursuit of an eight percent wage increase.
Members plan to down tools in the South Island on December 16 - and in the North Island on December 17 - covering the country's entire rail network.
It would also affect Interislander ferries across Cook Strait.
Marlborough mayor John Leggett says the service provides an important link between the North and South islands, and a strike would cause major disruption.
