Two men - aged 36 and 43 - who both have interim name suppression - deny shooting the 16-year-old outside a Guy Fawkes party earlier this month.
Three others are charged with being accessories after the fact.
Connor Whitehead's father James sat in the gallery wearing a 'Forever Connor' t-shirt, as all five accused pleaded not guilty.
A five-week trial is scheduled to begin in May, 2023.
