    The country's recorded 144 new Covid-19 community cases today...as health officials keep an eye on the new Omicron variant


    Another person with Covid-19 has died, they were a North Shore Hospital patient in their 80s.

    Today's cases include two in Northland, nine in Waikato, four in Bay of Plenty and 127 in Auckland.

    There's also one case in Hawke's Bay announced earlier today, that was picked up during routine surveillance testing when the person went to a hospital emergency department in Hastings.

    The Ministry's also reporting two additional Northland cases in Kaitaia and Whangarei, which will be added to tomorrow's tally.

    There are 82 Covid-19 patients in hospital, nine in ICU.
