Tottenham Hotspur have called for "clarity and consistency" from the English Premier League after Arsenal's request to postpone the north London derby was granted
16 January 2022
The Gunners lodged the request as they have fewer than the required number of players available - 13 outfield and one goalkeeper - due to a combination of Covid-19 cases, injuries and players away at the African Cup of Nations.
As it stands Arsenal have only one player out with Covid-19.
They recently let two other players leave on loan and have another suspended.
In a strongly-worded statement, Spurs say they're "extremely surprised" the application was approved.
They say the intention of the guidance was to deal with player availability directly affected by the virus.
