Omicron is continuing to spread in New Zealand
27 January 2022
We now have 90 community Omicron cases, up 34 on yesterday.
There are active cases in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Palmerston North, and Nelson Tasman.
But many of these additional cases have already been previously reported - and now linked through whole genome sequencing.
The Health Ministry says for that reason, many aren't included in today's community case tally.
Cases and contacts are expected to keep growing.
There are 45 community cases today, with five people in hospital, and one in ICU
