It's already been a terrible summer so far for water-related deaths across New Zealand.
Up to 14 people died in the country's waterways over the Christmas New Year period - the highest number in 25 years.
Two men died following water related incidents yesterday, one at Te Puia Springs, and one at Lang's Beach in Waipu.
Surf Life Saving Northern operations manager James Lea says people need to think before they go in.
He says if you don't think you'll be able to keep yourself above the water for a period of time if you get in trouble, then stay out.
