Michael Tautari was granted absence by the Court to attend a funeral in Kawakawa and failed to return.
Police say they're making extensive enquiries to locate the 24-year-old.
They first appealed for the public's help to find him yesterday.
He was last known to be in the Whangarei suburb of Raumanga, but has links to Auckland and may have travelled.
Tautari is described at about 165 centimetres tall, of medium to small build, with a large tattoo on one side of his face, and is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
