    Otago Museum has a new name - Tuhura, meaning to discover, investigate and explore

    Otago Museum has a new name - Tuhura, meaning to discover, investigate and explore


    The museum has been gifted the name by local runanga, replacing its previous te reo name - Te Whare Taoka o Otago.

    That loosely translates to Otago's place of treasures.

    Museum director Ian Griffin says the new name fits the museum better, in a way the previous one didn't.
