This happened at Te Aroha Pa Marae along the southern end of Kaipara Harbour in the early afternoon.
Security footage shows three Mazda mx5s drove onto the marae.
One then went through the waharoa or entrance archway and onto the atea or courtyard to do skids.
The atea is a very sacred place for all marae.
Te Aroha Pa marae trustee Margie Tukerangi says the incident has been reported to the police and efforts are being made to identify the offenders.
Ms Tukerangi the display of disrespect is beyond words and pierces the manawa or heart.
