A former chief police negotiator says the spiralling cost of living could be behind an increase in ram raids, especially by young people

The Ormiston Town Centre in southeast Auckland was hit early yesterday morning, apparently by 16 young people in three stolen cars.
It follows a string of similar attacks between Bay of Plenty and Auckland.
Lance Burdett says prices are increasing, and life is becoming more difficult and more expensive.
He says the targeted places have a lot of money, or in the latest case, electronics, which are easily sold, and clothing, which may be needed.
