It's hoped more competition will come about following the Government's war with the supermarket duopoly

It's hoped more competition will come about following the Government's war with the supermarket duopoly

Urgent legislation has been passed to stop Countdown and Foodstuffs blocking competitors accessing land.

Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister David Clark says it stops them from engaging in anti-competitive land wars.

Supermarket Commentator Nick Hogendijk says we might see some stimulus provided a new entrant comes into the market.

He hopes those at The Warehouse Group step up and get support from the Government to accelerate their path into the market ... as they have about 90 stores ready to go.
