All Black Dalton Papalii is facing New Zealand Rugby misconduct proceedings -- after avoiding a court charge for speeding over a technicality

Our newsroom has viewed a court document showing the 24-year-old was set to be charged for speeding on Auckland's Southern Motorway at Takanini in the early hours of Wednesday last week.

The charge was for a category one traffic offence -- driving more than 50 kilometres above the posted speed limit.

Police say they were unable to proceed with the charge due to a "technicality," understood to be an issue with the speed detection equipment.

However, a representative for the Blues Captain says he's facing misconduct proceedings from New Zealand Rugby's integrity unit.
