New Zealand is under the Orange traffic light settings until next week.
Almost every hospital is falling short of targets for emergency wait times -- with a woman dying from a brain bleed last week after leaving Auckland's Middlemore Hospital due to a long wait time.
The Prime Minister says the pressure facing Middlemore and other hospitals is due to flu and other winter illness, rather than Covid.
She says New Zealand has about half the daily cases it had when it moved to Orange, and the number of Covid cases in hospital has dropped from 500 to about 350.
