    England's Matt Fitzpatrick is a major golf champion


    The 27 year old has carded a final round two under 68 to win the US Open at Brookline by a shot over world number one Scottie Scheffler and fellow American Will Zalatoris .

    Fitzpatrick finished on six under and is overjoyed by his triumph.



    Meanwhile Lydia Ko has notched up her 100th top ten finish on the LPGA tour, finishing fourth at the latest tournament in Michigan.
