Almost a month into a trial over the killing of an Auckland grandmother - shot with a bullet allegedly intended for her son - has been called off

Almost a month into a trial over the killing of an Auckland grandmother - shot with a bullet allegedly intended for her son - has been called off

The 57-year-old was killed instantly in her Favona home in January 2020 after being shot through her window at close range, in the early hours of the morning.

The Crown says the bullet was meant for her eldest son after a botched gun deal.

Justice Grant Powell aborted the case in Auckland High Court today, with the jury excused and no new trial date set.

He hasn't given the reasons for calling off the trial.
