An Auckland mayoral candidate has major concerns about the increase in gang residency in his area

It comes after an incident in Gulf Harbour on Friday, where police received reports of a firearm allegedly being pointed from a vehicle.

Similar incidents also happened overnight across Auckland, with drive-by shootings in Avondale and Otara.

Gary Brown - who is also Hibiscus and Bays Local Board chair - says gang presence in his area seems to be more prevalent.

He's concerned about residents and the intimidation they seem to feel, and would like to see more police in the area to help get rid of gangs.
