Wellington mayoral candidate Tory Whanau is refusing to take down her election posters
3 August 2022
Council rules say the signs shouldn't be put up more than six weeks before the final date of voting.
Whanau is the second candidate to defy them, with Rongotai MP Paul Eagle also putting his billboards up early.
Whanau says she's merely levelling the playing field, as she's up against two very public profiles in Paul Eagle and incumbent mayor Andy Foster.
A Council representative says while the posters don't comply -- there's no legal means to have them taken down.
