Almost a hundred hospital buildings across the country are earthquake-prone

Almost a hundred hospital buildings across the country are earthquake-prone

And a third of those buildings would need to be operational immediately after a disastrous event.

Some of the worst cases are in Taranaki and Nelson, where hundreds of millions of dollars are being poured into redevelopments.

New Zealand's new health authority, Te Whatu Ora, has been lumped with the sub-standard building stock.

But it's confident it can strengthen or replace the buildings when required.
