A New Zealand psychologist says we need smart solutions to tackle youth crime

A recent video shows a group of teenagers causing damage to shops and assaulting staff members in a Palmerston North mall.

Nigel Latta says would we have the same response to these kids as a young Sam Uffindell.

Mr Latta says the answer isn't always about cracking down on youth benefits, but lifting kids out of poverty and giving them more resources.
