    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0715hrs Saturday 11-May-2024 by MetService

    Situation:
    A cold south-southwest flow affects Aotearoa/New Zealand. This flow eases on Saturday as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. This ridge begins to move away to the east on Tuesday as a front approaches the far south late in the day.

    Forecast issued at 0631hrs Saturday 11-May-2024
    Valid to 7 am Saturday for Inshore waters from Lyttelton Harbour to the Waimakariri River mouth.
    Saturday: Westerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots this afternoon. Sea slight. Mainly fine. Easterly swell half a metre or less.

    Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
    Sunday: Variable 5 knots. Westerly 10 knots developing for a time in the
    morning. Fine. Easterly swell half a metre or less.
    Monday: Variable 5 knots, becoming northeast 10 knots later. Cloud clearing.
    Easterly swell half a metre or less.
    Tuesday: Northeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots later. Fine. Easterly
    swell half a metre or less.
