    This morning's fiery crash on State Highway One is the second fatal collision on the highway in recent weeks


    The driver of the car has been confirmed dead after it collided with a truck and burst into flames north of Atiamuri, about 2.30 this morning.

    The truck driver was uninjured.

    Last month, two people died and three were injured in a serious crash on State Highway 1 near Ohakuri, south of Tokoroa.

    This latest crash brings the national road toll to 324 deaths.
