    Hamilton has the country's best cheesemaker, while Northland has New Zealand's best boutique cheese


    Geert Meyer of Hamilton's Meyer Cheese was named Champion Cheesemaker at last night's annual Champions of Cheese Awards.

    The Temple View company also received the Champion of Champions award for its goat milk gouda .

    Another gouda also took top honours at the awards even in Hamilton.

    The Bay of Islands' Mahoe Farmhouse Cheese won the Boutique Cheese Award for its Cumin Gouda.
