The dairy giant has posted a 605 million dollar loss for the last financial year.

Fonterra CEO Miles Hurrell is outlining a series of changes the company is making, as part of a new strategy and effort to reduce its debt.

He says they'll be closing their Te Roto specialty cheese plant, and are consolidating operations at its facility in Eltham, in south Taranaki.

Hurrell says 70 people work at the plant in Paraparaumu, but some of those people will be offered positions at the Taranaki site.
