SANZAAR is investigating a re-shaped competition structure in a bid to resume the Super Rugby season after the two-round coronavirus hiatus

SANZAAR is investigating a re-shaped competition structure in a bid to resume the Super Rugby season after the two-round coronavirus hiatus

Competition boss Andy Marinos has told Sky Sport a practical option is to regionalise the competition, which would mean multiple New Zealand derbies.

All New Zealand club and community matches have been postponed until April 18.

Non-contact training activities have been permitted in the short term.

NZR boss Mark Robinson says they've had consultations with the government, Sport New Zealand and Ministry of Health.

The Warriors are prepared to take a calculated risk with their health, if it means the NRL season can continue amid the pandemic.

Clubs have been told to limit public interaction to the point where players are essentially in lockdown but allowed to train and play.

Warriors boss Cameron George says it's important to play their role within the wider NRL which has made the decision to keep playing.

The Warriors are still set to meet the Raiders on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

UEFA has put all European club and national team football competitions on hold after deciding to postpone Euro 2020 for a year due to the pandemic.

The Kentucky Derby, part of American horse racing's Triple Crown, has been postponed from May until September.

It's the second such instance in the event's 146-year history - the other was a month's delay in 1945 because of World War II.

English cricketer Alex Hales has sparked the postponement of the Pakistan Super League hours before the play-offs, by reporting he has symptoms consistent with coronavirus.

Hales, who was playing for Karachi, decided to return to England on Saturday and said he felt "fit and healthy" at the time but woke up on Sunday with a fever and a persistent cough so went into self-isolation.

The International Olympic Committee remains committed to the Tokyo Games starting on July 24, saying the only changes required at this stage are to qualifiers.

Tom Brady appears poised to leave the New England Patriots, his only NFL home.

The Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are believed to lead the queue to sign the 42-year-old six-time Super Bowl winner.

Next month's New Zealand Shears in Te Kuiti has been cancelled because of the crisis.

The Great New Zealand Muster which sees thousands of sheep rattle their dags through the main street, has also been canned in line with mass gathering guidelines.

And to our live sport desk...

Events continuing amid the coronavirus pandemic include Tanzanian Premier League football, the Turkish men's volleyball championships and Ukraine's national ping-pong cup.
