Heavy rain is causing headaches for motorists in the South Island

Heavy rain is causing headaches for motorists in the South Island

The Arthur's Pass route between the West Coast and Canterbury is unlikely to open for the rest of the day, because of ongoing rainfall and slips.

All of State Highway six south of Hokitika to Haast has surface flooding in places.

State Highway six is also closed at Inangahua due to high river levels.
