As New Year's parties ramp up in Wanaka, Police are reminding people to drink responsibly

As New Year's parties ramp up in Wanaka, Police are reminding people to drink responsibly

Over the past week there's been an influx of youth entering the CBD and consuming alcohol.

Police have attended a number of disorder incidents involving young people and house parties with no adult supervision.

Wanaka Response Manager, Sergeant Kim Chirnside says parents shouldn't assume their children won't make poor decisions around alcohol - and its better it's consumed in the home environment.

She says Police are working to keep youth safe during this holiday, but everyone has a part to play.
