    MetService has issued a severe weather warning


    It's forecasting heavy rain in parts of the southern North Island until late tomorrow.

    The heaviest rain is expected in Taranaki which is now covered by a red warning for heavy rain, signalling the likelihood of significant impact.

    The orange warning for heavy rain remains in force for Marlborough Sounds, Wellington, Horowhenua, Kapiti Coast, Wairarapa, Tararua District and Tararua Range.

    There are also Heavy Rain Watches in force for Waitomo, Taumarunui, Taihape, Whanganui, Manawatu, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay.
