A West Coast Police Officer is taking on the Southern Alps on two very small wheels in support of the Cancer Society

A West Coast Police Officer is taking on the Southern Alps on two very small wheels in support of the Cancer Society

Senior Constable Chris Staton, who's responsible for the roads between Haast and Arthurs Pass, will ride 250 kilometres from Christchurch to Hokitika on a 50cc scooter this month.

It's part of the Tranzalpine Scooter Safari endurance ride to raise funds for the Cancer Society.

Staton says his biggest worry is breaking down and not being able to finish the race.

His scooter has been decked out in Police colours, as well as flashing red and blue lights.
