A long trip on the TranzAlpine when it hit a slip yesterday afternoon

The train travelling from Christchurch to Greymouth screeched to a halt near Dobson, not far from the old Brunner Mine site about 1pm.

None of the 85 passengers or five crew were injured.

Traveller Rob missed out on getting on the train and ended up on a bus with the other passengers after it hit the slip.

He says the impact was right at the front of the train, and a few of the passengers seemed shaken up.
