Schools across the country have again been targeted with threatening phone calls

Schools across the country have again been targeted with threatening phone calls

Police are investigating a bomb scare on McKenzie Street in Geraldine, relating to a threat made towards the local high school.

They're also looking into calls made to schools in Masterton, Kaikoura, Greymouth, Queenstown, Levin, Whanganui , Rolleston, Takaka, Dunstan, Ashburton and Palmerston North.

Police say they don't believe there's a safety risk, but they take such threats extremely seriously.

Earlier this week, five Waikato schools and one in Gisborne were threatened, and Marlborough Girls' College received a threat yesterday.
