A wet and warm year for the record books

A wet and warm year for the record books

MetService has released its weather wrap for the year, revealing we've recorded the wettest year seen in the last 30 years.

Wellington's weather station documented its wettest year since records began in 1928 - with Taupo and Blenheim also making the mark.

Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch also recorded their wettest years in the last three decades.

The average mean temperature across MetService's six main centres also made 2022 the warmest over the same period.
