GeoNet recorded more than 300 near Kawerau yesterday, and the shaking has carried on today.
Among the most recent, is a magnitude 4.2 quake which hit 20 kilometres west of Whakatane.
The rattle at about 10.40, was four kilometres deep and more than eight hundred people have recorded feeling it.
