    A health expert's backing a strengthened occupational health service, as a way to prevent silicosis


    The deadly disease can happen when the dust of engineered stone is inhaled.

    A Ministry of Health investigation calls for more worker protections, ventilation systems, and masks.

    College of Physicians silicosis expert Alexandra Mutu says workplace illness is a gap that's not being addressed well enough.

    She says unfortunately, change in that area's not being proposed under health reforms.
