Residents on the North Islands West Coast are now in the firing line as a weather system moves across the country

Residents on the North Islands West Coast are now in the firing line as a weather system moves across the country

Severe thunderstorm watches are in place for both the Waikato to Taranaki and Gisborne areas.

A heavy rain warning remains for the Bay of Plenty east of Opotiki.

MetService Metereologist Ngaire Wotherspoon says the system's crossing over towards the West Coast tonight.
